Solar Ventilation
A solar fan is a mechanical fan powered by solar panels. The solar panels are either mounted on the device or are installed separately – normally on a roof. Solar fans generally do not require power sources other than solar power from a solar panel, as most of them are used for cooling purposes during day time. Some types of solar powered fans are also for heating purposes. The solar fan runs the fastest when the solar heating is warmest providing maximum savings on heating costs.
Solar Sub-Floor Ventilation
Solar fans and solar powered fans are ideal for sub-floor ventilation. The main reason to use solar powered fans for sub-floor ventilation is the fact that they operate at their maximum capacity when the sun is strongest and the ambient air is driest. When overcast or raining, the fans will slow down or not operate – as is the case after sunset – when humidity levels rise. The dependence of solar radiation ensures the ideal performance of solar fans for sub floor ventilation.
A roof-mounted solar fan will be effective in removing excessive heat from your roof or attic. When mounted near the peak the solar fan forces hot air out while pulling fresh air in via eave/roof vents. This exchange of air keeps your room or the attic space from overheating.
As you can seen from the above applications, solar fans can be used across a wide range of applications. In order to operate our solar fans effectively, GES has a matching range of customised solar panels for the solar powered fans available.
